Useful Information for Parents
Introduction
Here at St. Andrew's, we are extremely fortunate to have a very well established and dedicated PTFA.
We are a small committee of parents (often with younger siblings in tow) who meet regularly, plan events, and rely on the wonderful support of teachers, staff and parents who give their time and energy to help make things happen. We couldn't do it without this teamwork, and the children really enjoy seeing their mums, dads, grandparents, and carers involved in school life.
If you would like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. Even if you can only offer a little help now and again, it still makes a big difference.
Our AGM is always held in October, and we also have informal catch-ups every Tuesday in the church hall drop-in cafe. Other meetings will be advertised on our PTFA Facebook page: St. Andrew's PTFA Facebook Group. Everyone is welcome to come along.
WHAT DOES THE PTFA DO?
The main role of the PTFA is to raise funds and bring the school community together through social events. School budgets are often tight, so we fundraise for the little extras that make school life more enjoyable and enriching for the children.
We organise a variety of events throughout the year including our Winter and Summer Fairs, Easter and Christmas activities, quiz nights, discos (including the special Year 2 leavers' disco), and sales. These events not only raise money but also create opportunities for families, children and staff to have fun together..
What are the funds used for?
The PTFA helps to provide resources that support learning and make the school environment more engaging. Purchases have ranged from small but useful items such as toys and classroom equipment, whiteboard markers, abacuses, and flip charts, to bigger things like new play equipment, garden improvements, or playground markings, like a hopscotch. Suggestions often come directly from parents, teachers, and children themselves..
How can I get involved?
Everyone is automatically a member of the PTFA if they are a parent, carer, teacher, or friend of the school, and all contributions of time are voluntary. There is no minimum commitment - whether you can give an hour here and there, help run a stall, or join the committee, every bit of support is valued.
